About On The Wall PDF Print E-mail

On The Wall is owned and operated by Mathew Ferguson, former freelance writer and editor. Switching to first person ... I've worked in licensed and regular publishing for a number of years and have driven many projects from idea to completion. One of the reasons I started On The Wall is because I kept meeting illustrators who 1) sold their copyright for next to nothing, 2) had awesome work hanging up in their corridor and were doing nothing with it, 3) had amazing concepts but no real idea of how to transform them into a commercial property.

Through freelance writing, I also had the opportunity to refer on illustration work from companies unsure of whom to hire.

I've written licensed materials for Disney, Mattel, Pixar, Warner Bros., Qantas and many other high profile clients (and I'm the guy who knows the answer to the Winnie The Pooh crossword. Hint: bees make it).

I'm really interested in finding new ways to take illustration and creative concepts out into the world. An illustration can now become a t-shirt which then becomes a comic and then a lunchbox en route to becoming animation. Sometimes all it takes is the right creative development to make that sketch hanging up in the kitchen a world-wide sensation.

Finally, I want to push and promote all kinds of brilliant work from within Australia and around the world. Truly terrific material sometimes doesn't make it out of Australia and cool stuff from overseas sometimes doesn't make it in.

cheers,

Mat
